Our custom built self-drive safari through Namibia offers an unparalleled sense of freedom and adventure, allowing you to experience the country's striking geographical diversity at your own pace. A classic route often forms a loop starting and ending in Windhoek, typically lasting 15 days to properly explore the key destinations without rushing. The journey takes you from the iconic, towering red dunes and white clay pans of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei in the ancient Namib Desert, north-west through ever-changing desert landscapes to the coastal town of Swakopmund. Here, the desert meets the Atlantic Ocean, offering a dramatic contrast and a range of adventure activities like quad biking or marine tours. Continuing north, the route leads to the rugged, ancient landscapes of Damaraland, home to unique desert-adapted wildlife such as elephants and rhinos, and fascinating Stone Age rock art at Twyfelfontein. The final major stop is Etosha National Park, a vast white salt pan where animals congregate around waterholes, providing exceptional self-drive game viewing opportunities to spot a wide array of wildlife, including lions, elephants, and various antelopes. Namibia's roads are generally well-maintained (a mix of tar and graded gravel), making the self-drive experience feasible.
